OWNER OF
TREADITIONAL TREASURES

MY NAME IS KERSTEN CADOTTE

I am from Treaty 4 Cowessess First Nation, Saskatchewan. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I am a Marketing graduate from Red River College.

The reason I started Traditional Treasures was to provide myself and other Artists a platform to sell products and distribute their products such as beaded accessories, natural cosmetic products, hand crafted home décor, art and much more.

The store is intended to showcase new and upcoming collaborations made by Artists across Canada that create and design beautiful handmade treasures. I also think its important to naturally resource all working materials from Indigenous individuals and or First Nation Communities as finding jobs are essential to individuals living in First Nation communities.

It is my responsibility to reduce the waste going into extra plastic packaging. I do my best as an Indigenous business owner to have all packaging reusable, recyclable and biodegradable.

I was diagnosed with Dyslexia when I was twelve, which means I used to struggled tremendously with reading and spelling. Along with other things like directionality, processing and comprehension issues. However, the day I learned I was dyslexic, my life changed forever.

Having an accessible tutoring program and a strong support system helped me graduate high school, trades school and post-secondary education. I had to face many challenges at a young age and hoped my lack of spelling or reading wouldn’t hinder me from choosing a career I love.

For the last ten years I have been dedicated to improving literacy and creating awareness about dyslexia. I have my Advanced Tutoring Barton Reading and Spelling Certificate from KC Dyslexic Learning Centre and work as a Senior Tutor.

My passions and new ambitions have motivated me to continue to work towards empowering youth by teaching, sharing, and collaborating. "It's never to late to try something new". This is what drives me to be the best version of myself.

My goal is to help people learn, achieve, and inspire! I want to share my story to help dyslexic individuals like myself who struggled and hope to inspire them to try and achieve their dreams – on whatever it may be.

I’m excited to collaborate with the creative people in this province and across the country. You can email me at info@shoptraditionaltreasures.ca as I read all emails.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for new upcoming products and collaboration stories!
